So today I’ve decided to pull back the curtains and reveal exactly how much YouTube paid me for my video that got 240,000 views! But I’m also going to show you a 2nd video of mine and compare the earnings from those to 2 videos from a YouTuber with 1.5m subscribers… who do you think made more? 😉

Summary of this video:
So first off, I have to give credit where credit’s due – Shelby Church’s video « This Is How Much YouTube Paid Me For My 1,000,000 Viewed Video (not clickbait) » gave me the inspiration to make this video. And although I thought her video was amazing and super valuable, there was one main thing I disagreed on (more on that later) but I thought it would be interesting to compare 2 of her videos and their earnings against 2 of mine. I know you’re going to be quite surprised – enjoy 🙂
First, like Shelby says – there are a ton of things that can affect the CPM (amount you get per 1000 views, before YouTube takes their cut) of a video, things like the topic, etc. But something I don’t think she mentioned was how important the actual NICHE of the channel actually matters. Some of her videos only have a couple dollar CPM, while some of my more niche specific videos have over a $100 CPM, which is absolutely INSANE!
The first video I show of Shelby’s had 1.3m views and $2,000 in ad revenue. Now, that’s not too bad… but when you look at my most popular video – a video about how to make money with google maps – it has ~240,000 views and $3,400 in ad revenue. So why is this? 3 things: Topic & Niche, of course… but also, when a video is over 10 minutes long, it can have ads in the middle of the video, which makes a big difference. But even if hers was 10 minutes long and we doubled it, it still would only have $500 more than mine but has over 1m more views – which all comes down to Niche & Topic, it’s that simple. Her video also gained her 1.6k subs, while mine gained me 5.5k subs. Again, niche & topic.
The second video I show of Shelby’s has 2.3m views, but you’ll be amazed at how much this one made… only $743! This is partly due to the fact that it’s a short video, but I’d say it’s mostly due to the fact that it’s just appealing to a broad audience all across the world, which means lower CPMs in other countries. However, that video did gain 31.4k subscribers for her, which is dope! Now, my second video… only ~140,000 views, but it made $1,300! This video had to do with how to do YouTube without showing your face, pretty popular – but not as high of a CPM as my other video, with this one coming in at just $18. However, Shelby’s CPM was just $1 – $4 depending on the country. My video also got me 7.4k subs, which is more than my most popular video got, with less views!
Lastly, the thing I disagree with Shelby about… she mentioned that TYPICALLY YouTube is not the best place to make money on and most people don’t end up making a full-time income on it. However, that’s not what I disagree with… because she’s RIGHT – most people DON’T make a full-time income! But that’s not because it’s a bad place to make money… it’s because people give up because it’s « TOO HARD! » But if you’re willing to put in the work, you can make more money than you ever imagined… even with a SMALL CHANNEL!
And that’s what I disagree with her about – I truly believe YouTube is one of the best opportunities to make money online in 2020, even as a small channel… I know this because I just did this! I just crossed over $20,000 in the last 30 days… all from 100% organic traffic on YOUTUBE!
Here’s my income breakdown from the last 30 days:
$4,000 from YouTube ad revenue
$14,500 from my main high ticket affiliate program
$1994 from my program (https://HighTicketYT.com)
So it definitely works! And if you want to check out my main high ticket affiliate program, go to https://go.thomasgaretz.com/start-here (it’s only $7!)
